The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) reported on Tuesday that soil moisture deficit has been recently observed on 90 percent of Slovakia's territory, with the situation becoming worse compared to last week in several areas of the country.
According to the institute, a relatively large part of the Orava area in northern Slovakia has been affected by extreme drought, while extraordinary drought has also been recorded in the country's southern regions and the Povazie area.
