Igor Matovič survives no-confidence vote in Parliament

Former Prime Minister and current Finance Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) survived the no-confidence motion in Parliament on Wednesday, as mere 51 out of 135 lawmakers voted for his ouster. The no-confidence motion was initiated by independent MPs around Peter Pellegrini and also recruited support from Smer-SD and other independents. Voice-SD leader Peter Pellegrini said after the vote that Matovič's coalition partners, who did not support the dismissal, would be co-responsible for the damages he commits as finance minister and he labelled Matovič the originator of the chaos in the country. Igor Matovič, who is also the leader of coalition party OĽaNO, averred that the opposition is attempting to push him out of politics. "I'll keep fighting, however, until you physically liquidate me," he told the lawmakers on the opposition benches.
