As of July 1, the prices of most prepaid travel tickets and those for single-trips within the Bratislava public transport system have seen a rise. The exception is the price of the annual ticket, which, on the other hand, became cheaper by 25 percent. Its price went down from 264.2 to 199 euros. The biggest change is that passengers will no longer be able to buy a 15-minute single-trip ticket. According to Bratislava's mayor Matúš Vallo, the change in fares was important as the last change to the fares took place in 2015. He said that the new fares are a compromise and will benefit those who commute regularly by public transport. The Bratislava Transport Company has also introduced a service called Kartuj, when a single-trip ticket can be purchased with a standard payment card directly in the Bratislava public transport vehicles.
