President Zuzana Caputova sent her condolences to all the people affected by the heavy thunderstorms in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic, praising the assistance provided by Slovak health personnel and paramedics. Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar (We Are Family) posted on a social network early on Friday morning that Slovakia is ready to provide any kind of aid necessary to the neighbouring Czech Republic. Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OLaNO) reached out to his Czech counterpart Jan Hamacek with an offer of help, informing that two dozen firefighters from the Bratislava and Trnava regions had been sent to the fire station at the border town of Kuty in anticipation. Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad (OLaNO) has contacted Hamacek to offer him the help of the Slovak military in dealing with the aftermath of the devastating thunderstorms.
Paramedics in South Moravia have recorded at least three deaths, with around 150 people injured in the wake of Thursday's (June 24) heavy thunderstorms. Extensive damage was reported in the village of Luzice. In the town of Hodonin, a storm tore off the roof of a sports hall and damaged a stadium and a retirement home, causing injuries to a number of the residents.
