SHMU: Record-setting 38°C in Slovakia

An air temperature of 38 degrees Celsius was recorded for only the second time in history in Slovakia on Thursday, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Office (SHMU) reported on its website. The all-time high figure was measured at a station in the village of Muzla, south- western Slovakia, but a number of stations saw their previous records rewritten as well. SHMU expects the heatwave to dissipate somewhat in the following days, particularly on Friday (June 25) in western Slovakia and the Zilina region and on Saturday (June 26) in the rest of the country.
