The unemployment rate in Slovakia saw a mild drop in April by 0.32 percentage points from February, with it now standing at 12.96. As the Director General of the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, Marián Valentovič, informed on Tuesday, the registered jobless rate has dwindled 1.45 percentage points in yearly terms.
The number of jobseekers able to take up a job immediately was over 349,700 at the end of last month. Compared to March, this figure was lower by 8,500. In a yearly comparison, the number of unemployed persons able to take up a job instantly decreased by nearly 39,200 in April. Also speaking at the press conference was Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Minister Jan Richter who stated that this is a continuation of a favourable trend, and that the figures over the past few months indicate that the rate may be curbed to the EU average in the course of this year, which is 10.5 percent (as of March).
