Survey shows demand for renovation of public buildings

As many as 77 percent of people think that public buildings in their vicinity require renovation, while 18 percent think the opposite, according to a public opinion poll conducted by Focus agency at the beginning of June of this year for the Slovak Climate Initiative and an organisation called Buildings for the Future. "The recovery plan envisages financing the restoration and construction of new public buildings. Our survey clearly shows that the public perceives the restoration of state and municipal office buildings, schools, medical facilities, cultural centres and some sports infrastructure buildings as being very important," said Slovak Climate Initiative coordinator Katerina Chajdiaková. According to the initiatives, applicants should not face unnecessary administrative and bureaucratic obstacles. Strict attention should also be paid to high-quality construction and renovation, especially in terms of energy efficiency, the quality of the indoor environment and the principles of building sustainability.
