A prosecutor of the Prosecutor-General's Office has dropped charges against former head of the Slovak National Crime Agency (NAKA) Branislav Zurian, who was accused of misusing his powers and jeopardising classified information. PG's Office spokesman Dalibor Skladan explained that the indictment was unlawful, unsubstantiated and premature, as it was not based on sufficient evidence. According to Skladan, not only was it incorrect to qualify Zurian's actions as the crimes he was charged with; the police investigator also overqualified them in an inadmissible manner. Zurian asked to be relieved of his duties as NAKA head on May 15, leaving the police at the same time. The police raided his home six days later in his absence, questioning him when he returned from holiday abroad. The police did not opt to detain him.
