Stringent checks at Austrian-Slovak border crossings have been scrapped, with minor crossings at the Devinska Nova Ves-Schlosshof cyclist bridge and Devin-Hainburg river crossing now reopened, the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry reported on its website on Tuesday.
"In light of the favourable developments in the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, diplomatic talks with Austria have led to the scrapping of the stringent (police) checks at border crossings with the Slovak Republic," reads the text.
Austria recognizes vaccination certificates issued by Slovakia.
Meanwhile, citizens of the Slovak Republic and Hungary who have been vaccinated against the new coronavirus can travel freely between the two countries as of Wednesday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced on a social network.
