Reducing emissions calls for sizeable investments, Environment Ministers concur

The plan to cut down the emission of greenhouse gases by 55 percent will require sizeable investments and changes to the European emission quota trading system, concurred the countries of the Visegrad Four group along with Bulgaria and Romania at a video conference on Tuesday, announced Environment Ministry state secretary Michal Kica, who represented Slovakia at the virtual meeting.

Slovakia endorses the target of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. "Of similar importance to us is the European Commission's 'Fit for 55' legislative package. However, it'll be necessary to adopt measures to prevent the increase of energy poverty," said Kica.
