Vlčan to replace Mičovský as Agricture Minister

On Monday, outgoing Slovak Agriculture Minister Ján Mičovský announced his decision to withdraw his resignation. However, later in the day, the Government Office reported that President Zuzana Čaputová and Prime Minister Eduard Heger had agreed that Samuel Vičan would be named as the new Agriculture Minister.

Mičovský explained his decision by pointing to the number of supportive statements addressed to him. These convinced him "not to flee the battle" and to continue in office. The Denník N daily wrote in response that, according to the Slovak constitution, it is impossible for ministers to withdraw their resignation. Mičovský announced his resignation at the end of May after the former chair of the Slovak Land Fund, Gabriela Bartošová, who was also his nominee, was charged with corruption. At the time, Mičovský stated that he considered the appointment of Bartošová to be a failure on his part, and therefore had decided to resign.
