President Zuzana Caputova sent a telegram of congratulations to newly elected Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog on Thursday. Caputova wished Herzog a great deal of success, happiness and good health in a demanding post with all its responsibility. "I'm pleased that friendly relations and cooperation between Slovakia and Israel have been at a very good level for a long time. I believe that together we will contribute towards their further development in all areas of common interest and for the benefit of the citizens of both of our countries," wrote the president. The Israeli Parliament on Wednesday (June 2) decided that former opposition leader Yitzhak Herzog will become the new Israeli president. He'll replace Reuven Rivling in the post as of July 9.
