No novel Coronavirus found in Slovak trains

Scientists from the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) searched for novel coronavirus on trains, on cash registers and in the toilets of passenger rail carrier ZSSK Slovakia in April and early May. None of the 187 samples taken contained any coronavirus, representatives of ZSSK and SAV's Biomedicine Centre told a press conference on Thursday. The collection of the biological materials from trains and other areas was carried out by experts from the SAV Biomedicine Centre and trained ZSSK staff. First contact staff, engine drivers and areas used by them, plus areas on passenger trains, express trains and regional and suburban trains all passed the tests. Chairman of the ZSSK board of directors Roman Koren noted that the samples were taken before and after train journeys with passengers on board. Strict hygienic measures and regular disinfection might be found behind the result of the research.
