The Slovak Armed Forces have begun the Slovak Shield 2021, their most important military exercise of the year, with the participation of soldiers from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the United States. The Slovak Shield 2021 is to be held at the Lešť training camp. "The aim is to train and develop inter-operability with the alliance partners, train higher levels of combat readiness and the capability of a military response to address a crisis situation" claimed the chief of General Staff Daniel Zmeko. He added that this military exercise would spell the definitive return of soldiers to the normal routine of military life following the coronavirus crisis.
