Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OLaNO) has passed on information regarding the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) report that was read out at the special parliamentary session last week to the Interior Ministry Inspectorate, ministry spokeswoman Petra Friese told TASR on Tuesday, adding that she can't provide any more details.
A meeting of the highest representatives of the state in the building of the Slovak Intelligence Service, which took place on May 17th, was discussed last week by MPs at a closed extraordinary meeting. It was initiated by opposition party Smer-SD. At that time, the Speaker of the Parliament, Boris Kollár (We Are the Family), was to present the SIS report, which allegedly confirmed the existence of a working group influencing criminal investigations in recent cases of corruption and abuse of power involving top law enforcement and intelligence agencies officials. Subsequently, the content of this report was allegedly leaked to the public. The National Security Office (NBU) warned against further distribution or media coverage of the leaked report, as it is considered classified material belonging to the Slovak Intelligence Service.
The meeting between top state representatives at SIS headquarters on May 17th, as well as the report itself, is on the agenda of a special session of the parliamentary committee for supervising SIS activities due to be held on Wednesday.
