Slovakia's Defence Ministry will pay more than €2.6 million to Russian company RSK MiG for the damage caused when a MiG-29 fighter jet crashed during a training flight near Nitra in 2019, TASR learned from the Central Registry of Contracts on Monday. "Damage was caused to the Russian side due to the fact that there were aggregates belonging to RSK MiG on the aircraft, apart from the aggregates and materials of the Defence Ministry," Defence Ministry spokesperson Martina Koval Kakascikova explained.
An investigation concluded that the crash was down to 13 factors, with the most immediate being that the aircraft ran out of fuel. The police came to the conclusion that no crime had been committed.
