Agriculture Minister Ján Mičovský (OLaNO) will resign from his post on Monday, May 31 following a corruption scandal at the Land Management Agency which is in his Ministry's portfolio. He made the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday. " I nominated a person at the helm of this agency who probably failed. You can find an expert, but in addition to expertise, you also need a person who is morally capable," stated Mičovský, adding that current Deputy Minister Martin Fecko (OLaNO) might become his successor in the post.
Last Friday a prosecutor asked the Specialised Criminal Court (STS) to launch criminal prosecutions for corruption against seven people including Land Management Agency general director Gabriela Bartošová, who was nominated by Mičovský. She resigned on Monday.
