The number of guests accommodated in hotels, guest houses and other accommodation facilities in Slovakia dropped by 77.6% compared to March 2020, the first month of the pandemic in the country. As the Slovak Statistics Office reported, compared to March 2019, the drop is at the level of 92.1%. However, the number of visitors this March increased (by 15.8%) compared to the previous month. Nevertheless, the year-on-year (y-o-y) fall still amounted to 78%.
Accommodation facilities reported revenues of €9.6 million in the first quarter of 2021, only 10% of the revenues posted for the same period of last year. Revenues from foreign clientele amounted to €1.9 million (down by 95.2%), making up 19.6% of total revenues. Revenues from domestic clientele reached €7.7 million, accounting for 80.4%.
