ŠK Slovan Bratislava football club won the eleventh title in the era of independent Slovakia and the third in the row. They sealed the success with a 4:0 victory against Zlaté Moravce in the penultimate round. This game was the first one for the new coach Slovak Vladimír Weiss senior, the 20th coach of the team since 2008 when the current management took over the club. Weiss replaced Slovenian Darko Milanič who took charge of the club in September 2020 and lost his job in May 2021 after a series of poor results, despite reaching the cup final and topping the league table.
