President: Denmark inspiration for Slovakia in using renewable energy sources

Denmark is an inspiration for Slovakia in increasing the energy efficiency of buildings and the share of using renewable energy sources (RES), President Zuzana Čaputová said on Monday during her visit to Copenhagen, Denmark. She pointed out that a key factor in environmental change in Denmark was agreement among "political players" across the political spectrum, which has persisted for years. Despite changes of government, the country has had its own concept, plan and project for how they want to transform the country in order that it be sustainable and ecological.

Slovakia should also increase its share of the use of renewable energy sources. "Our share of RES is 17 percent in the energy mix and this share will have to rise in the future," noted the president, pointing out that Slovakia has committed itself to reducing emissions by 55 percent by 2030 and to becoming a carbon neutral country by 2050. "We need to fulfil these goals in a specific way, and Denmark is a great inspiration in this," said Čaputová.
