Slovakia received the results of tests carried out in Hungary on its supplies of the Sputnik V vaccine. According to Slovak Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarský "the results are in order". The Health Ministry is now set to hold talks with experts and the Russians on how and whether the vaccine should be put to use in the country. According to the minister the vaccine will be granted a permit for use in Slovakia only if the Russians agree to it.
Russia, which recently took back 600 of the 200,000 vaccine doses that were delivered to Slovakia in March in order to carry out its own checks, is obliged to inform Slovakia about the results by the end of May. The purchase of the Sputnik V vaccines triggered a government crisis in Slovakia and resulted in the resignations of Prime Minister Igor Matovič and Health Minister Marek Krajčí.
