The procurement for supersonic aviation, or replacement of military helicopters should be launched no later than this summer, Defence Minister Martin Glvač said during opening ceremony of the Defence Technology Exhibition IDEB in Bratislava on Wednesday.
In addition to supersonic air force and new helicopters, the Ministry also plans the modernisation of military transport aircraft. Currently the Slovak army uses military transport aircraft Antonov An-26 and L-410, but it’s considering the purchase of new Italian C-27J Spartan planes. These shouldn’t be used only once in a while for transporting material or soldiers, but should be incorporated into broader international cooperation.
