Bratislava police opened fire on a car driving on the D1 highway in the opposite direction, but even despite having his tires shot multiple times the man behind the wheel kept on driving until he crashed into a police vehicle. After the collision, the man refused to get out of the car and had to be dragged out by the officers. According to a police post on a social network, he was likely under the influence.
The driver of the BMW drove the wrong way from Zlate Piesky to Petrzalka borough. Even after he crashed into the police car, he failed to respond to police orders. "He held the steering wheel of his vehicle with both hands and kept revving up his engine. In order to prevent him from continuing the ride in the wrong direction, one of the police officers smashed a side window on the driver's car and used a grappling technique to pull the man out through the window," reads the post.
The officers apprehended and handcuffed the driver. "Even after being handcuffed, the man continued to act aggressively and mounted an active resistance. A likely reason was that he was under the influence of an intoxicating substance," stated the police, adding that the driver underwent a toxicology test.
