Price of real estate up 4.2 percent in Q1

The prices of residential real estate increased by 4.2 percent quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of this year, with growth recorded in all regions, the most rapid in Trenčin and Nitra, said analysts from the Slovak Central Bank (NBS) on Tuesday. At the beginning of the year, the average price of flats increased by €53 per square metre to stand at €2,179 per square metre. The average price of houses increased by €102 per square metre, reaching a level of €1,471 per square metre.

The analysts noted that developments in the construction sector have also signalled a continued reduction in newly available real estate, which may contribute to a rise in real estate prices in the near future. In combination with expected salary developments, housing may be less affordable.
