Government approves own Manifesto

Prime Minister Eduard Heger's (OĽaNO) Government at a session on Wednesday approved its own Manifesto, which will subsequently be presented to Parliament. The 131-page document has changed only a little compared to the manifesto of the previous government of Igor Matovič (OĽaNO). It has 18 chapters, with the first one devoted to the fight against corruption and the final one to culture. It has some updates concerning COVID-19. Government members say that despite the fight against the virus, it was possible to introduce systemic changes in the judiciary, social affairs and improvement of the business environment in the past year. They point especially to government investment in the preservation of employment and health care. Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollár (We Are Family) has convened an extraordinary parliamentary session for 9 a.m. on Friday (April 30) to discuss the Manifesto. The opposition Smer-SD party will not support the new Government with a single vote, said Smer chairman and former three-times prime minister Robert Fico on Wednesday.
