Slovakia considers the referenda in Donetsk and Luhansk unlawful

Slovakia considers Sunday’s referenda on independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, organized by pro-Russian separatists, illegal and unlawful because they were prepared and performed contrary to the applicable Ukrainian legislation. Slovakia, according its Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, is therefore not recognising their results.

”We recognise Ukraine as an independent and sovereign state and call on everyone to refrain from steps that lead to the escalation of tensions in Eastern Ukraine and to questioning of the territorial integrity of the country”, reads a statement from the  Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
