The decision to expel three Russian diplomats was based on detailed intelligence reports and a disregard for Slovakia's sovereignty, said Prime Minister Eduard Heger. "We are a sovereign country and there are clear rules that need to be respected. If anyone crosses these boundaries, they must anticipate the fact that we will act on the basis of our legislation and international agreements," said Heger. He also claimed that the step was also meant as an act of solidarity towards the Czech Republic, which expelled 20 Russian diplomats last week due to the alleged involvement of Russia in an explosion in a Czech ammunition warehouse seven years ago.
