2nd stage of aid highly expected

Almost 1,000 applications worth €12 million were sent into the second phase of the tourism aid scheme over the first day, Transport Minister Andrej Dolezal (a We Are Family nominee) said in a video posted on a social network on Thursday. The Transport and Construction Ministry launched another stage of assistance for the gastronomy and tourism sector on Wednesday (April 21). According to Dolezal, the number of applications that have already arrived shows that help is really needed and that applicants have been waiting for it. According to the Transport Ministry's tourism department head Raduz Dula, this assistance should be sufficient, pointing out that the amount allocated was also based on calculations and experience from the first stage of assistance.

The gastronomy and tourism aid scheme has been increased by another €120 million, increasing the total amount for the sector to €220 million. The limit for drawing this aid has been set at €200,000 per applicant, as this is a so-called 'de minimis' aid scheme. The basic condition for applying for the state aid is a drop of at least 40 percent in sales compared to 2019. Each month is assessed separately, and the amount of aid will be derived from the calculated loss.
