Former intelligence chief charged in another corruption case

Former head of the Slovak Intelligence Service Vladimír Pčolinský, who is being prosecuted while in custody over charges of accepting a bribe, has been charged with another corruption crime. "Given the ongoing criminal proceedings, we can't provide more details, however," said Dalibor Skladan, the Prosecutor-General's Office spokesman confirmed for TASR news agency. The story of new charges against the former intelligence head was broken on Wednesday by news outlet zoznam.sk. Meanwhile, Pčolinský's lawyer Ondrej Urban told the media that his client had denied committing the crime with which he was recently charged. The National Criminal Agency detained the former intelligence office head on March 11, charging him with accepting a bribe worth €40,000, which was meant to persuade him to drop the monitoring of lawyer and business tycoon Zoroslav Kollár. He has been in custody since March 29.
