Foreign Minister: Slovakia and Greece want to strengthen relations

During his working visit to Athens on Wednesday, Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok (a Freedom and Solidarity/SaS nominee) stated that Slovakia and Greece are ready to strengthen their bilateral relations, especially in the area of economic co-operation. Korčok in Athens held talks with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias. At the talks with his Greek counterpart, the Slovak foreign minister praised Greece's ongoing dialogue with Turkey, which he believes is a precondition for easing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, and stressed the need to respect international law in resolving this situation. In Athens, Korčok also reiterated his support for Greece in dealing with the consequences of the migration crisis. In this context, he pointed out Slovakia's financial assistance to Greece worth €1 million.
