The new Government Manifesto will support the building of a greener and more climate-resilient economy, said Environment Minister Jan Budaj at the first meeting of the Government Council for the European Green Deal on Tuesday.
The council adopted six key instructions for individual government ministries in drawing up their policies - reduction of green-house gas emissions, adaptation to climate change, renewal and protection of biodiversity, support for environmental sustainability, support for regenerative growth and circular economy, and a strategy of no additional pollution.
"The worst thing would be to make contradictory moves. This council is designed to prevent this," said Economy Minister Richard Sulik (SaS), a vice-chair of the council. At the same time, he warned against overly fast changes that would cause "shocks" to the economy.
