Independent MP Miroslav Kollár joins non-parliamentary Together party

Independent MP and mayor of Hlohovec (Trnava region) Miroslav Kollár, who recently abandoned the ranks of the governing For the People party, announced on Tuesday that he's joining the extra-parliamentary Together party. At a press conference, Kollár reminded the media of the reasons why he left his former party as well as the coalition. "As mayor of a district capital, I could see the real impacts of this chaotic governing on an everyday basis," he said, criticising the Government's ineffective management of the pandemic. In his opinion, the situation hasn't changed much even after the recent government overhaul. As for his decision to join Together, Kollár claimed that the party has achieved results in the field without "talking unnecessary talk".

Kollár was one of the candidates for the post of For the People head in August of last year, but the party chose Veronika Remišová instead. Remišová remarked following his exit in February that she had seen it coming ever since he lost the vote for the post of party head. Kollár isn't the only MP who's left For the People recently. MP Tomáš Valášek did so too, and announced in the first half of April that he was joining the extra-parliamentary Progressive Slovakia party.
