Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák in Belgrade on Friday met Serbia's top representatives, assuring them about Slovakia's staunch support for the Balkan country's EU integration efforts.
“Serbia is facing a decision to adopt a series of necessary reforms. I welcome, therefore, that the Serbian Government is made up of parties that are interested in constructive co-operation and leave no doubt about their pro-European orientation,” said Lajčák. He added that the EU integration process may be demanding, but Serbia has enough administrative capacities to do their homework on time and join the EU as soon as possible. “It isn't speed but perseverance that matters in Serbia's accession talks,” said Lajčák at a press conference in Belgrade. Lajčák later went to Novi Sad to meet representatives of the local Slovak minority.
