Slovakia concerned about Russia's actions

We are concerned about Russia's destabilising activities, said Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korcok (a SaS nominee) in reaction to the latest measures taken against Russia by the USA on Thursday (April 15). "I understand the decision by US President Joseph Biden on further specific measures in reaction to the destabilising actions of the Russian Federation, to which all allies, including Slovakia, responded in a joint statement by the North Atlantic Council (NAC) at its extraordinary session on April 14, 2021," said Korcok. According to Korcok, the NAC's statement is a further response by the transatlantic community to continuing violations of fundamental principles of international law and Russia's interference in the democratic processes of other countries. "We're concerned about Russia's destabilising activities, and we call on it to stop these activities, including the escalation of tension along the border with Ukraine and in the illegally annexed Crimea, to respect its international commitments and to return to the NATO-Russia format table," said Korcok. "At the same time, I would like to confirm that Slovakia, as a member of the EU and NATO, is interested in developing good bilateral relations with Russia and in holding a constructive dialogue in this spirit, which presupposes political will on both sides," added the foreign affairs minister.
