The Association of Towns and Villages of Slovakia (ZMOS) has launched a project of cross-border cooperation between Slovak and Ukrainian municipalities and districts, according to ZMOS spokesperson Michal Kaliňák. "ZMOS perceives the importance of cross-border cooperation quite sensitively because 36 out of 79 Slovak districts are situated next to the border and up to 48 percent of the population lives in border areas," said Kaliňák.
The aim of the project is to raise awareness about the potential of Slovak-Ukrainian cooperation, and to exchange experience with reforms, modernisation processes and the provision of public services. Scheduled to last until April 2023, the project will feature, for instance, six seminars, two expert conferences, two roundtables, internships for employees of Ukrainian districts and municipalities in Slovakia and the publication of materials.
