President Zuzana Čaputová acceptedt Prime Minister Igor Matovic's resignation and subsequently commissioned Finance Minister Eduard Heger with forming a new Government on Tuesday afternoon. Heger, who is swapping positions in the new Government with Matovic, claimed that he's prepared to show the president his list of Government ministers. The new Government is expected to have only two new names: one for the top job at the Health Ministry and one for that at the helm of the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry, as Milan Krajniak (We Are Family) has already announced he won't serve as a member in the new cabinet of Eduard Heger (OLaNO).
The Defence Ministry confirmed that general Vladimír Legnvarský, currently heading the Central Military Hospital in Ružomberok, has agreed to assume the post of the Health Minister. He should replace Marek Krajčí (OLaNO), who resigned after the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was imported to Slovakia, which triggered the government crisis. His resignation was one of the demands of the coalition partners.
