More than 2,400 comments on the draft national recovery plan have been submitted in interdepartmental comments proceedings, with the Finance Ministry attributing this large quantity to great interest in the reform agenda, both among experts and the broader public, according to Lívia Vašáková the head of the Finance Ministry's national Recovery Plan section.
In mid-March the national draft of the so called Recovery Plan was submitted for public discussion in Slovakia. The document is meant to inform the European Commission as to how Slovakia is going to spend about €6 billion on reforms, in order to help the country recover from the current epidemic. It focuses on key areas such as a green economy, healthcare, education and digitalisation, and effective public administration. Various stakeholders such as NGOs, hospitals and medical associations, as well as the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK), have been displeased not only with individual components of the draft but also the way the Finance Ministry has managed the debates on the document, which looked more like presentations made by ministry officials than like real discussions. The final version of the draft is to be submitted to the European Commission by the end of April.
