Education, Science, Research and Sport Minister Branislav Groehling (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) announced during the Cabinet session on Wednesday that he's stepping down from his post.
On the same day, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok (a Freedom and Solidarity/SaS nominee) announced on his trip to Brussels that he'll resign when he returns home.
Korčok and Groehling are expected to hand their resignations to President Zuzana Čaputová on Thursday afternoon.
SaS earlier issued an ultimatum to Matovič to step down by Wednesday, or the ministers for SaS would leave the Government. Matovič himself on Sunday conceded that he could abandon the post of prime minister, but at the same time he laid down a range of conditions, including the resignations of some figures from junior parties SaS and For the People from posts both in the Government and Parliament. SaS noted that its departure from the governing coalition is also in the picture.
