IFP: Slovakia now slowest economy in V4

The most dynamic economy in the central-European Visegrad Four region only a few years ago, Slovakia has recently become its slowest economy, the Finance Ministry's Institute for Finance Policy (IFP) stated on Tuesday, stressing that reforms are needed to increase the standard of living in the country. The IFP referred to data from the International Monetary Fund indicating that Slovakia is the slowest country in the region in terms of approaching the EU level concerning GDP at purchasing power parity. Meanwhile, investment activities in Slovakia have been lagging behind the average both of the region and the EU since 2012.

The institute noted that several indicators produced from official data suggest that Slovakia's efforts to catch up with the EU have weakened in recent years.
