Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) director Vladimír Pčolinský accused of corruption will be remanded in custody, a pre-trial judge of the Specialised Criminal Court (STS) decided on Sunday. Moreover, he has given up his post. Labour Minister Milan Krajniak of the We Are Family party which nominated Pčolinský, expressed his belief that the arrest seems to be part of a foul game aimed at removing him from the post. The remaining coalition parties did not comment the decision adding that they are waiting for the results of the investigation. Chairman of the opposition Smer-SD party and former PM Robert Fico called the case "political theatre" aimed at covering government's inaction in the fight against the pandemic, which will damage the security interests and sovereignty of the state. Slovakia's Security Council Committee for the Coordination of Intelligence Services met on Monday to discuss the situation.
