On Thursday, the Slovak Supreme Court released from custody former deputy Justice Minister Monika Jankovská and former Bratislava regional judge Richard Molnár, both charged with bribery. However, right after her release, Jankovská was immediately arrested again due to suspicions in another case. Her testimony is relevant to numerous cases.
Jankovská has been in custody since March 2020. In February 2021, she was admitted to hospital after an overdose of prescribed drugs in late January, attempting suicide. She had been on a hunger strike a few weeks earlier. Molnár is accused of accepting bribes and interfering with the independence of the court.
Originally she denied all suspicions, later confessing to breaking the law, however, she keeps denied the suspicion of accepting bribes. Molnár denies all of his charges.
