Kližan takes ATP World Tour title again

The Slovak tennis player Martin Kližan fought hard on Sunday to capture his second ATP World Tour title, breaking a three-match losing streak against world number 15 Fabio Fognini.

The Slovak world number 111 battled the courts for 89 minutes a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory against Fognini in the BMW Open by FWU AG final. “I had stomach problems throughout last night. I think I slept only 30 minutes and I am now very tired. I was down after losing the first set, but I just wanted to keep fighting”, said Kližan to reporters at ATPWorldTour.com. Kližan was awarded €77,315 in prize money, a new BMW 420d convertible, as well as earning 250 Emirates ATP Ranking points for his win. Kližan is the first qualifier to win an ATP World Tour trophy since June 2013, and the first player outside of Emirates’ Top 100 ATP Rankings to take the trophy since world number 155 Ivo Karlović did so last year.
