PM Robert Fico: original Slovak Crown to Euro rate appropriate

The exchange rate of the Slovak crown to the euro when Slovakia was adopting the common European currency in 2009 was set at the most appropriate level (30.1260 SKK/EUR), as the government at the time took into account several factors, including the effects on entrepreneurs, exports and ordinary Slovaks’ savings, Prime Minister Robert Fico said in a discussion with former premier Mikuláš Dzurinda on Slovak Television on Thursday.

“Every exchange rate has some pros and cons, but I stand behind this exchange rate,” said Fico in the debate devoted to the tenth anniversary of Slovakia’s EU accession.
