Visegrad group anniversary meeting of Prime Ministers in Poland

"The purpose of the Visegrad Group is to seek common solutions and positions, to discuss them and then to represent them in the European Union," Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovič stated on Wednesday at a press conference in Krakow. Poland is hosting the summit of Visegrad 4 prime ministers, with the President of the European Council Charles Michel joining the meeting in person, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen remotely. The Visegrad group, consisting of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, was founded in 1991. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Slovak PM thanked the group for their solidarity with Slovakia during the 1990s, when, according to the premier, Slovakia was "called the black hole of Europe". According to Czech PM Andrej Babiš, "V4 isn't a political bloc. V4 is an economic bloc of 65 million of our citizens, for whose interests we are fighting. And, of course, we also fight for the interests of Europe," said Babiš.
