Total of 39 hotels and accommodation establishments ended business in 2020

Hotels and short-term rentals have been operating only in a very limited mode for almost a year because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. A total of 39 hotels, various forms of short-term accommodation and campsites in Slovakia closed their business last year, according to an analysis by consulting company Bisnode A Dun & Bradstreet Company. This represents 1.6 percent of all operations of this type on the Slovak market. However, their number increased in the critical year and is significantly higher than in 2018. The analysis showed that 2,480 hotels, campsites and short-term accommodation establishments operated in Slovakia in 2020. The analysis also focused on the Czech Republic, where the situation is slightly worse. Out of the total number of 5,338 hotels, campsites and various forms of accommodation, more than 3 percent of them closed their business last year.
