After he was sworn into office on Monday the new Special Prosecutor, Daniel Lipšic, claimed that he wants to get the public to believe once again that the law applies to everyone. "I'm convinced that justice in Slovakia is currently at a crossroads and that there's a chance and a hope that criminal justice can advance significantly, perhaps for the first time in thirty years. I want to try to accomplish this with my colleagues at the Special Prosecutor's Office so that people will come to believe again that the law applies to everyone and that justice is among the most precious values of our society," said Lipšic, noting that achieving this goal won't be easy.
Meanwhile, Prosecutor-General Maroš Žilinka has announced that he'll support Lipšic in his endeavours. "But at the same time I'll keep tabs on you, so that the public doesn't question in any way whether the law is being applied in a manner where some individuals are more equal than others," said the Prosecutor-General.
