Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra launches 100,000th car

Jaguar Land Rover operations director Russell Leslie claimed at a joint press conference with Economy Minister Richard Sulik (SaS) on Thursday that the carmaker's plant in Nitra has already managed to manufacture 100,000 cars.
"Jaguar Land Rover has been gradually meeting its obligations and commitments stemming from the investment agreement that the company signed with Slovakia. We continue to invest - we've created more than 3,000 jobs at the plant. Another 23,000 jobs have been created across Slovakia thanks to our contractors," stated Lesslie.
According to Sulik, the investment agreement still contains several outstanding agendas that the state aims to see through in the near future. "These are various account clearances, unresolved matters concerning the land on which the plant stands, several other details we want to follow through on," noted Sulik, with Lesslie confirming this. "There are several unresolved matters, but we've concurred on how to deal with them," said the carmaker's representative.
The investment agreement between the Slovak government and Jaguar Land Rover was signed in December 2015, with the construction of the plant in Nitra following in October 2018. While the British company invested a total of €1.4 billion in the construction, the government contributed a further €129 million. The first model to be produced in the plant was the Land Rover Discovery, which was followed in January 2020 by the Defender.
