Slovak president sees reasons for V4 countries to continue cooperation

At the end of a two-day summit of the presidents of the Visegrad Four countries (V4: Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary), Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová stated that although the group has managed to accomplish the joint objectives it set itself thirty years ago, there are reasons to continue cooperating in the future. According to Čaputová, all four countries are often confronted with similar problems and thus should base their cooperation on joint interests and values. At the summit held in Poland, the presidents discussed the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the recovery of their respective economies and energy security in the context of climate protection. As for the fight against the pandemic, Čaputová noted that the pandemic has revealed the weak points of the V4's health-care and education systems, which caused drops in the performances of the economies of the four countries, among other things.
