The coronavirus pandemic has forced many Slovaks to change their eating habits, with a healthy hot midday meal becoming much more important to them, according to the latest Food Barometer survey carried out on a sample of 5,740 respondents.
More than half of the respondents have been drawn towards healthier food during the coronavirus crisis. "Regardless of whether they've made it at home or ordered from a restaurant, they've paid more attention to the raw ingredients that it was prepared from," state the survey result comments. "How fresh the food is was important for 63.4 percent of the respondents, while in the previous year it was important to only a quarter of them (25.4 percent)," they added.
In addition to fresh food, Slovak employees who took part in the Food Barometer survey, when considering the term 'healthier food', imagine this to mean more vegetarian and vegan alternatives. More than half of the respondents are motivated to seek healthier options and clearly labelled nutritional values.
