"I will use all my international contacts to make the production of a vaccine against COVID-19 in Slovakia a reality," Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová wrote on a social network adding that the production of vaccines in Slovakia and an increase in their availability must be a strategic goal. Moreover, the President discussed this possibility with Health Minister Marek Krajčí.
"A joint European purchase of vaccines was necessary at the time of their development but we need to prepare quickly for the situation where we can produce the same vaccines in Slovakia using our own capacities," said the President. According to her, Slovakia has the necessary experts as well as production facilities which can apply for a production license, subject to modernisation.
